Five Years Equals a Great Nap...or a Dead Blog

Hey folks,

I forgot I even had this thing (by thing, I mean the Blogger/Blogspot/Google Bloggermatic account.) So, five years, what's difference?

I've embraced my inner Public Address Announcer and have become the voice of University of Dayton Baseball and Men's Soccer and Wright State University Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Swimming and Diving, and Baseball. I've been with UD since 2013 and WSU since 2015.

I've been broadcasting a lot. Between stops on the Gem City Sports Network for a few seasons and WTGR 97.5 FM up in Greenville, I've done a lot of broadcasting. In fact, as of this post, I have called 980 games (and a pair on 980 AM, but that's from 2011 and old hat since there's no local sports except Dragons games.) I should hit 1,000 broadcasts this Fall with High School Hockey at South Metro Sports.

I've been the voice behind a ton of hockey games at SMS, including two full seasons with the Centerville Elks. I've really enjoyed my time there, meeting great people and being able to describe great games. Looking forward to 2018's season.

I FINALLY started a podcast! I called it "The Gem on The Queen's Crown" and I'm celebrating one year of existence next month. Only took...you know, four years after talking about it and buying the USB mic. I'm fairly proud of the work I've put into the podcast. It hasn't landed me a job yet, but it's been a nice way to get my name out there.

I stopped blogging on my main page and knocked off the "Sports in the Mowen Years" title (it's been YEARS since I used that name.) I'll admit, blogging kind of tanked and I stopped using my main page for a while. It's now the home of my podcast episodes, but I really need to get back writing.

I started going out with a marvelous woman, and eventually I'm going to marry her. SPOILERS but too late you've read it.

I can't guarantee that I'll keep writing in this, but it's a nice way to vent...or should I say, SOUND OFF?!! Huh, huh?!!!!

Well, so long for now. May the next post happen quicker than five years from now. Follow me on Twitter @theleewmowen.

Until next time,

-Lee
